LOCAL AUDIO PRESERVATIONIST
RESTORES PRECIOUS MEMORIES.

BY AMRITA MA McDONOUGH

RICHARD DUGAN, LOCAL AUDIO ANTIQUITIES PRESERVATIONIST, SPECIALIZES IN PRESERVING CASSETTES, REEL TO REEL TAPES AND OLD VINYL. RICHARD HAS FOUND THAT THE IMPROPER STORAGE OF THESE MATERIALS MAKES THEM VERY BRITTLE. IN SOME INSTANCES, HE MAY GET ONLY ONE CHANCE TO TRANSFER AND PRESERVE THESE PRECIOUS MEMORIES!

Patty's great uncle had recorded his recollections of life in Ireland as a child. Patty remembered hearing him tell those stories while growing up in the states.

As Patty was going through her uncles possessions, following his passing, she came across several old reel to reel audio tapes. They were labeled with her uncles name and the date they were recorded.

Patty would have loved to hear her uncles voice once again telling the stories of his childhood, however she didn't own a reel to reel player. And she also knew that, because they were so old and fragile, if she played them they might fall apart and she'd never hear her uncles voice again.

She remebered a gentelman who restored old audio recordings and gave him a call. She told him what she had. He said he would take a listen and see if they were recoverable

Two weeks later patty had 9 hours of audio on CD. she was once again able to hear her uncles voice and fondly remember the stories and the times she spent with him.
